One of the things I enjoy most about being a hairstylist is working with models.  It might sound naf, but every now and then someone truly spectacular walks through the door of worldSALON and after years of “imaging” or crafting the hair looks for agency models, I can identify the special ones immediately.  In 2003 Jessica Stam was picked up by Giovanni Models in Toronto and they sent her to me for imaging.  Her hair was really damaged from over-highlighting and not enough trimming!  After cutting and colouring, I took a polaroid of the finished look and got her to sign it – I knew she was destined for great things:

I immediately contacted my best bud, photographer Ivan Otis – and we included Stam in our Spring 2003 Collection for worldSALON:

A few months later, she was shipped off to NYC for fashion week, where she opened Richard Tyler’s Spring 2003 show:

Then she was off to Paris to shoot with Steven Meisel for Italian Vogue:

and featured in campaigns for Prada, Versace, Chanel and MiuMiu:

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of working with a new model named Janessa Alleyne, now represented by Plutino Models in Toronto.  She was scouted by a friend Peggi Lepage, who called me to get my input on her hair, which had been seriously damaged by extensions.  I advised cutting it off.  There were tears, but I was so excited by Janessa that I booked her in for a shoot with Ivan and the result is the first ad for our re-branded WORLD product line in HOLR Magazine:

Janessa has owned her new look and is already getting runway jobs – most recently with Evan Biddell in the FashionArtToronto2015 show.

There are some exciting things brewing for Janessa that are top secret.  Keep watch – a new star is on the rise!
